"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted here, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week's pre-publication "can't-wait-to-read" selection is:
The Mothers
By Jennifer Gilmore
Publication Date: April 9
From Amazon:
Jesse and Ramon are a happy, loving couple but after years trying to get
pregnant they turn to adoption, relieved to think that once they
navigate the bureaucratic path to parenthood they will finally be able
to bring a child into their family. But nothing prepared them for the
labyrinthine process—for the many training sessions and approvals, for
the ocean of advice, for the birthmothers who would contact them but not
choose them, for the women who would call claiming that they had chosen
Jesse and Ramon but weren’t really pregnant. All the while, husband and
wife grapple with notions of race, class, culture, and changing family
dynamics as they navigate the difficult, absurd, and often
heart-breaking terrain of domestic open adoption.
What's your "waiting on" pick this week?

haven't heard of the mothers, looks good though, nice cover! - Katie @ Inkk
I was lucky enough to get a ARC a few weeks ago. Cant wait to read it.
This sounds incredibly realistic and heart-wrenching. Great choice, thanks for sharing!
My WoW
The Mothers sounds very heavy. I have a lot of adoption in my family so it would be interesting to read that subject from a story stance.
Really interesting pick! Thanks for sharing :D
Cool pick!
Btw, sorry I had to repost my link. The first one I put up was wrong and broken. Thank you! (If possible, please delete entry number 17)
Have a lovely day!

I have a friend who has waded through these waters once and is now dipping her toes in for another round. I can't imagine what she's gone through but maybe if I read this one, I would have a better idea.
Interesting choice. You always find some interesting books.
Grace
That is such a great, interesting pick. Would definitely give insight into the process and the overall longing of some to become parents. Have a great WoW! Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven

Great pick, sounds like a pretty emotional read. Have a Merry Christmas!
This one sounds good, but potentially quite heart-breaking. I hope it's not too rough on the readers!
This sounds quite heavy and emotional. Lovely choice, Jill!

Another good looking one!
Great pick! Sounds like a wonderful, emotional story. Thanks for sharing!
That sounds really interesting -- and yet heartbreaking too.
LOVE the cover! There are so many books out there about life after adoption, but not many about how hard it is to actually adopt a child. Sounds like a great book!
This book sounds great, I can't wait to get my hands on it!
